Campaign to Stop Israel’s Racist Death Penalty
Our Objective
The immediate ask is simple: write to your MP, MEP or national parliamentarian calling on them to condemn the law and commit to suspending preferential trade agreements with Israel if it is not aborted. Both the EU-Israel association agreement and the UK-Israel Trade and Partnership Agreement contain human rights clauses that exist for exactly this moment.
We are using this campaign to encourage our volunteers to do something we know is essential but underutilised — reach out directly to the quietly horrified professionals in their own networks.

Something passed this week that I think deserves more attention than it’s getting.
Israel’s parliament just voted to make death by hanging the mandatory sentence for Palestinians convicted of killing Israelis. Palestinians only — Jewish settlers who kill Palestinians face no equivalent penalty. They’re tried in military courts where the conviction rate is around 96%, often based on confessions obtained under duress. No right to appeal. Execution within 90 days of sentencing. The last time Israel executed anyone was the Nazi war criminal, Adolf Eichmann in 1962.
Twenty-four Israeli international law professors have condemned it as racial discrimination and warned it could constitute apartheid.
France, Germany, Italy and the UK have all raised concerns. The EU has real leverage here that isn’t being used — there’s a trade association agreement with Israel that’s supposed to be conditional on human rights. Brussels insiders point to one person blocking action: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
